B-A band director seeks to meet with members
Former Bellwood-Antis High School Band Director Don Claycomb and his wife, Donna, will be visiting Central PA and would love to reconnect with band members from his tenure at BAHS (1970-73).
A reunion will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at DelGrosso's Park, Pavilion No. 6.
If you were in the band, color guard or a majorette back then, organizers hope that you will attend.

BCARS to participate in national 'Field Day'
On June 25 and 26, more than a dozen licensed amateur radio operators will arrive at the picnic facility of the Shawnee Fire Company in Schellsburg, as the Bedford County Amateur Radio Society participates in the ARRL Field Day Exercise.
Since 1933, the American Radio Relay League in Newington, Conn., has sponsored the National Emergency Communications Drill using emergency power, remote equipment and portable antennas.
These "Ham" operators will simulate operating their High Frequency (HF) and VHF equipment under disaster conditions.
There will be several stations operating simultaneously on Single Side Band (SSB) digital modes such as FLDIGI and vintage Morse Code (CW) transmitters.
The BCARS operators will "work" other Field Day stations all over the world.
This 24-hour international event runs from 2 p.m. Saturday until 2 p.m. Sunday.
"We have been doing this for decades all over Bedford County," said BCARS President Zach Pepple, amateur call sign KC3KHK.
This year's Field Day encourages visits by the public to observe their operations. There will be four separate transmitting and receiving stations simulating disaster operations.
"This is an international competition involving Ham Operators in Canada, the United States and all American possessions and territories around the world," Pepple said.
BCARS, now in its 63rd year of operation, was founded during the Cold War in 1959 and provides tactical and disaster communications for a number of county governmental nonprofit entities such as the Chamber of Commerce, BIKE BEDFORD, the Bloody Run Canoe Classic, the County Election Board and the Department of Emergency Services.

Johnstown PolkaFest set this weekend at PNG Park
JOHNSTOWN -- The 1st Summit Bank PolkaFest 2011 will be held Friday, June 3, through Sunday, June 5, at Peoples Natural Gas Park in downtown Johnstown.
Hours are 4 to 10 p.m. Friday, 12:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
PolkaFest's admission is $5 on Friday and Saturday, and free on Sunday. Minors accompanied by an adult are free.
