HUNTINGDON -- This weekend, professional and amateur musicians will gather at Juniata College for Folk College, a three-day music festival full of workshops, concerts, jamming, singing and dancing.
Folk College brings top-rated musical talent to Huntingdon County and offers an opportunity for area residents to participate and/or enjoy several excellent concerts by some nationally renowned musicians.
While area musicians are encouraged to register for the full weekend event to take the workshops, public concerts Friday and Saturday night are an excellent way to view these extremely talented and remarkable musicians.
Concerts start at 7 p.m. and are held at the Halbritter Center for Performing Arts on the Juniata College campus. Tickets are $20 and will be available at the door. Masks are required to attend the concerts.
The Friday concert features an array of talent and genres, including host band Simple Gifts, Nordic fiddle and guitar masters Vidar Skrede and Patrik Ahlberg, and The Appleseed Collective.
The Saturday concert features world-famous folk singer, songwriter, storyteller and multi-instrumentalist John McCutcheon, along with two-time Grammy Award winners Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer, and harmonica and blues wizard Richard Sleigh. This concert is followed by a free contradance.
