NARVRE to meet Wednesday
DUNCANSVILLE -- The National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, at the Prime Sirloin Buffet following COVID-19 guidelines.
Members and nonmembers are welcome to attend.
NARVRE is the only chartered national organization whose sole purpose is to protect our pension rights.
All retired, veteran and present railroad employees (or widows) of any craft are invited to attend the meeting of NARVRE Unit 173, Altoona.

AFSCME 8306 to meet Wednesday
DUNCANSVILLE -- The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Retirees Sub-chapter 8306 will hold its regular meeting at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, at the AFSCME Union Hall on Patchway Road. There will be a guest speaker.
The board meeting will be at 12:30 p.m.

Radio club has display at library
BELLWOOD -- The Horseshoe Amateur Radio Club of Blair County currently has a display depicting some facets of ham radio at the Bellwood-Antis Public Library.

Hollidaysburg sets 2022-23 registration
HOLLIDAYSBURG -- The Hollidaysburg Area School District has announced the dates for kindergarten and first grade registration for the 2022-23 school year.
Children who are 5 years old before Sept. 1, 2022, are eligible for kindergarten.
Children who are 6 years old before Sept. 1, 2022, are eligible for first grade.
Students currently enrolled in kindergarten at HASD do not need to register for first grade.

'Soup-er Sunday' to be held Feb. 6
The Catholic War Veterans will hold its inaugural "Soup-er Sunday" with special guest Miss Pennsylvania 2021 Meghan Sinisi from 1 to 5 p.m. Feb. 6 at 290 Valley Ave., Altoona.
Studies show that one in 10 veterans struggle with substance abuse disorder.
The event will benefit the Families United for Chnge Foundation, which is committed to supporting those affected by substance abuse disorder.
Library offers one-on-one tech classes
The Altoona Area Public Library, 1600 Fifth Ave., is now offering one-on-one tech classes.
These classes can be tailor-made to fit your tech needs. You can bring your own devices and ask for help for specific problems or you can ask the library to create a class to fit your needs.
The classes will be limited to one or two related people and last no more than a half hour. Classes will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Call 814-946-0417, ext. 125, to schedule a time.
Walk-ins may not be able to be accommodated if the appointment schedule is full.
In an effort to protect the health and safety of our patrons and staff, adults and children over the age of 2 are required to wear masks at all indoor library programs. Activities will be spaced out and limited to the number of active participants.
