Duncansville to host tree lighting

The Duncansville Community Days tree lighting will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1. The event is hosted by the Hicks United Methodist Church, Troop 30, Pack 30 and Duncansville Community Days.

Altoona Christmas parade is Thursday

The Altoona Christmas parade will be held Thursday evening in the downtown area and the festivities will include a tree lighting ceremony and fireworks.

The “Home for the Holidays” parade is slated to start at 6 p.m. in the area of Ninth Street and Green Avenue, travel to 12th Street to 11th Avenue to 16th Street Heritage Plaza.

There will be activities for children before the parade begins.

Martinsburg plans Christmas parade

The Martinsburg Christmas parade will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. The parade begins at the Martinsburg Elementary School and will end at Morrisons Cove Memorial Park. Pancakes with Santa will be served from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the park prior to the parade. Cost is $5 per person, and tickets are available in the park office.

Tyrone Christmas parade is Saturday

The Yuletyme Christmas parade will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, in Tyrone, where Christmas events begin at 5 p.m. Friday and continue through Saturday at local businesses. Friday’s events include a cookie crawl, soup sampling contest and the annual tree lighting ceremony, which is set for 6 p.m.
