In recognition of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Family Services Inc. will hold a Lunch & Learn, "Life in the Digital Age: Understanding Tech Abuse." It will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at the American Legion Social Hall at Legion Park, Hollidaysburg.
This training will explore the magnitude of technology misuse and the impact it has on survivors. Safety and privacy considerations will also be discussed. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of technology abuse and its impact as well as safety measures survivors can take.
Speakers will be:
* Elaina Roberts, technology safety legal manager, NNEDV's Safety Net Project. She provides training and technical assistance on cyber-abuse with a focus on offender behavior and technology misuse, victim safety and impact, and gathering and admitting digital evidence.
* Peter Weeks, Blair County District Attorney. He joined the office in 2007 as a special drug prosecutor. He was promoted to first assistant district attorney in 2018 before assuming his current role of the chief prosecutor.
