HOLLIDAYSBURG -- The Hollidaysburg Area Public Library has announced its activities and resources for October:
ö Preschool Storytimes 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays for children 18 months through age 6, must be accompanied by a caregiver. No signup is necessary.
ö Book Babies Storytimes, a "lap-sit" program for children from newborn through 18 months and their caregivers, 6:30 p.m. Thursdays and 10:30 a.m. Fridays.
ö Legos in the Library for ages 6-12 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Fridays. Signup required; email pennie@halibrary.org.
ö Friday ROCKS drop-in program for all ages 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Fridays. Paint rocks to place in public places and post pictures to Facebook.
ö Canasta and Mahjong games 11 a.m. Mondays. Beginners are welcome. Call Harriett at 814-693-929.
ö Adult needlework and arts group 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Bring your own materials. Call Janice at 814-695-2281.
ö Allegheny Essential Oils Club 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6. Visit the club page on Facebook for more information.
ö Computer Talks will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, with 30 minutes of a talk, 30 minutes of questions and answers followed by one-on-one meetings. Email questions and meeting requests to corporal99@gmail.com.
ö The Keystone State Literacy Association Blair Bedford's "Diversity!" on Tuesday, Oct. 5. Business meeting is at 5 p.m, and the program discussion on African-American authors and illustrators is 6 to 7 p.m.
ö The Friends of the Library monthly meeting 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7. New members are welcome.
ö The Mystery & Mayhem Book Club 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, discussing "Need to Know" by Karen Cleveland. Books will be available at the library to purchase. No signup is necessary.
ö Pumpkinfest Saturday, Oct. 16, in downtown Hollidaysburg. The library will have storytime at 10 a.m. in front of the courthouse. There will also be a library table with information and a small craft for children.
ö Paws for Reading for children ages 5 and older with their caregivers 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30. Read to pets from the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society. Reading to animals can help children feel less anxious and improve their reading skills.
ö The Friends of the Library used book sale Oct. 20 to 22. Preview sale for members of the Friends is 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19. Sale hours are 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. The $5 bag day will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday and run through Friday.
ö The Best of Times Book Club 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28. The group will read "White Teeth" by Zadie Smith. No signup is necessary.
ö Bats at the Library with Heidi Muldoon from Canoe Creek State Park, Hollidaysburg, will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30.
