Back-to-school event set
AASD Feeling Fit will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, at the Altoona Area High School IM field, located beside the A building. The event will include games and activities.
HAHS Class of '81 to gather
The Hollidaysburg Area High School Class of 1981 will hold its 40th anniversary reunion at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at Park Hills Golf Club, 219 Highland Terrace, Altoona.
The cost is $25 per person. There will be a cash bar.
Checks can be mailed to 23 Elm St., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648. Reservations and money are due by Saturday, Aug. 21.
Claysburg
Trivia night planned
Claysburg Preserving Stories, Artifacts and Traditions is teaming up with the Claysburg Volunteer Fire Company to sponsor the eighth annual Trivia Night Contest and picnic-style dinner on Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Claysburg Township Center on Bedford Street.
All proceeds will benefit the Claysburg Area Volunteer Fire Company.
Even though the event is sponsored by Claysburg PAST, the trivia is not Claysburg trivia.
First place will receive $150; second place, $125; third place, $100; and fourth place, $75.
Teams may consist of one to eight people. A limited number of tickets are available. Attendees must be at least 21 years of age. Throughout the evening, ticket holders will be eligible for random drawings of cash prizes of $100, $75 and $50. In addition, five $20 prizes will also be awarded.
Tickets can be purchased by calling Elaine Smith at 814-937-3397 or Troy Crist at 814-330-2616. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6 p.m. Trivia begins at 7 p.m.
Make-A-Wish volunteers sought
The Make-A-Wish regional office in Punxsutawney will host an online volunteer training via Zoom at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8.
As members of "wish teams," volunteers are the faces of Make-A-Wish in their local communities. Working together, the "wish team" is assigned to a child in their area, meets with the family and helps determine the most suitable wish for the child.
To become a wish volunteer, individuals must be at least 21 years of age, pass a criminal background check and attend a
training session.
The Punxsutawney regional office is currently looking for new volunteers in Blair, Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Huntingdon, Indiana, Jefferson, McKean and Potter counties.

Curve to host OOT night
Operation Our Town Night at the Altoona Curve will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 26 at Peoples Natural Gas Field. Grant recipient organizations will be set up at a table on the concourse.
Logan Township Police Officer George Swander and K-9 Ciro will present a pregame demonstration.
Grandstand tickets are $7 and for each ticket sold, $1 will be donated to Operation Our Town. Ticket packages are available for businesses.
