Local Boy Scout attains the rank of Eagle

Peirce Aidan Condo received Boy Scouting's highest award, Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor on March 13.
Peirce is the son of Samuel and Denise Condo of Altoona.
Joining Troop 3117, sponsored by St. Mark Catholic Church in 2012, Peirce earned the ranks of Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star and Life, and now the rank of Eagle Scout with four palms.
He has served the troop as an Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader and most recently as an Instructor.
While in the Boy Scouts, Peirce attended summer camps at Camp Seph Mack, participated in camporees, Klondike Derbies and assisted with various community service projects, including Scouting for Food and the annual Memorial Day Flag project. In 2016, Peirce was inducted into the Allohak Menewi Lodge, #57, Order of the Arrow in 2016 and in 2018 he was selected to attend the National Youth Leadership Training Conference at Camp Twin Echo.
Peirce's Eagle Scout Project involved designing and constructing a retaining wall to fortify another Eagle Scout's project by a former member of Troop 117 for the St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church. He organized his Eagle Scout Leadership/Service Project during his time away at school in Florida.
Peirce has been practicing and performing ballet since he was 4 years old. He started his career at Allegheny Ballet, progressively advancing his education in the field in summer sessions in New York, Florida, Utah and Massachusetts.
Peirce was accepted into the Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton, Fla., for its ballet/school program. After a year, he progressed again to the Pennsylvania Ballet in Philadelphia and was there until the pandemic hit.
He graduated from Altoona Area High School in 2020 with honors by completing coursework online.
During this period, Peirce was accepted into the architectural engineering program at Penn State University. He will be attending Penn State's University Park Campus full time, beginning in the fall.
At his Court of Honor, Peirce received recognition from the Pennsylvania State Senate with a proclamation by Sen. Judy Ward, an Eagle Scout etching from James Turiano, a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol and other accolades.
Over the years, Peirce has consistently attributed his continued success and perseverance to his Scout training and the role-models whom he encountered. Many of these men and women are still actively involved in Scouting today.
