Hollidaysburg Cub Scouts participate in Pinewood Derby

HOLLIDAYSBURG -- Cub Scout Pack 3331 of Hollidaysburg recently held its Pinewood Derby at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church Social Hall.

The Pinewood Derby is the wood car racing event of the Boy Scouts of America.

With the help of adults, Scouts build their own unpowered, unmanned miniature cars from wood, from official BSA kits containing a block of pine wood, plastic wheels and metal axles.

Terry Garman, Wolf rank placed first, Mitchell Seelye, Wolf rank placed second, and Avery Smith, Wolf rank placed third.

The overall winners will move on to the Chief Logan District Pinewood Derby on Sept. 18.

Hollidaysburg's Cub Scout Pack 3331 is open to boys in first through fifth grade. The boys have fun doing activities that teach lessons of self-worth, the importance of community and helping others.

Pack leaders and parents keep the Scouts on a path of citizen training, character development and personal fitness.

As the Scouts earn a new rank each year, they are also doing so alongside other Scouts, developing friendships that will last a lifetime.

If you're looking for a program that will help your son learn to be a good citizen, have good character and to be a healthy, self-confident young adult, Cub Scouts has been a positive influence on boys for 90 years.

Cub Scout Pack 3331 meets at

7 p.m. Mondays during the school year at St. Mary's Social Hall, 312 Clark St., Hollidaysburg.
