Fort Roberdeau has opened for its 2021 season. It will be open through Oct. 31.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The following special events are planned:
June 12, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. -- Ranger Skills Day. After a winter break, Rangers sharpened the skills needed to patrol the frontier and protect the lead miners and settlers. Join us for a hands-on opportunity to hone your Ranger skills!
July 4, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. -- Star Spangled Fourth. The fort will celebrate Independence Day with this open house event. There will be activities for all ages. Free parking and admission.
Aug. 14-15, 1 to 4 p.m. -- Revolutionary War Days. Rangers, militia, miners and settlers all played a role in defending and maintaining the Lead Mine Fort. Visit an 18th century field camp. Become immersed in camp life and a story line based on local events. A daily battle will be held each afternoon. Free parking and admission.
Sept. 11, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. -- Distaff Day/Patriot Day. Women's 18th century skills will be shared through living history demonstrations and hands-on activities. Discover the domestic skills women used to maintain the home. A Patriot Day presentation concludes the day with a keynote speaker presented by the American Revolution Round Table of Central PA.
Oct. 9, evening event -- Halloween Adventures. A haunting tradition continues with an eerie night of adventures into the supernatural world and Halloween traditions. Select your adventure from a program menu. Trick or Treat between the Fort cabins for children 12 and under.
Oct. 30 -- Veterans Tribute. Rangers posted at Fort Roberdeau became pensioned veterans after the war. Fort Roberdeau will honor all veterans with a recognition program.
