AAHS junior receives scholarship, featured on cover, inside Inspiring Teens magazine

Altoona Area High School junior Caitlin Harshberger, 17, received a $1,000 scholarship and is featured on the cover and inside pages of Inspiring Teens magazine, a magazine by teens for teens throughout the world.

Caitlin is the daughter of Mindy Despot and stepfather Seth Despot of Duncansville and Adam Harsberger and stepmother Megan Harshberger of Hollidaysburg.

Caitlin was nominated by her photographer Mallory Neil, a 19-year-old student at Point Park College, Pittsburgh. Mallory is the daughter of Ed and Lisa Neil of Hollidaysburg.

Caitlin appears on the cover of issue 27 of Inspiring Teens International Style which was published Sept. 30.

Caitlin is a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council and is a member of Allstar Cheerleading for 15 years where she participates on two teams which have earned 12 first-place finishes and several National Champion titles.

Her dedication also earned her Athlete of the Month honors from America’s Best organization. She and her teams have also competed in Orlando, Fla., at the D2 Summit the past two seasons.

She is coaching three teams at her gym, Xtreme Allstars, this year. Her future plans include college to become a physician assistant, specializing in pulmonary medicine.

Since its founding in January 2019, the scholarship program has awarded more than $34,000 in scholarships.

In addition to the magazine and scholarship programs, Inspiring Teens also runs leadership programs for teens all over the world. All teens have to be nominated into the magazine, scholarship contest and leadership programs. The program is based in Warrington.
