Samaritans Promise raises funds to buy van for area man who is a quadraplegic

Courtesy photo Scott Clark tries out his new van donated by Samaritans Purse.

The Samaritans Promise, a nonprofit, 501(c)(3), recently reached its goal of $8,000.

In less than six months, and, during a pandemic, the organization received donations from individuals and businesses in Blair County.

As advertised, the money was used to purchase a handicap-equipped van for Scott Clark, a quadriplegic man who lives near Tyrone.

Samaritans Promise was created by Tom and Christine Templeton to help people in need in the Tyrone area.

When the van was delivered, Scott, in tears, said, “I want to thank everyone who helped me get the van.”

This van allows Scott to have the freedom to leave his home whenever he has a driver available. He has not had independence for many years.

The group looks forward to the next project. If you would like to contribute to the Samaritans Promise please make a check payable to: The Samaritans Promise, c/o Sickler, Tarpey and Associates, P.O. Box 12, Tyrone, PA 16686.
