The loss of a loved one is extremely difficult and individuals and families often approach grief and remembrance in many different ways.
Grane Hospice Care is proud to provide not only high quality hospice care to patients but also comprehensive support to families and friends after a loved one has passed.
The bereavement program at Grane Hospice is an integral part of the interdisciplinary team and Grane Hospice employs an entire team of dedicated bereavement staff who work closely with other disciplines to provide each family the unique support they need on their grief journey.
Beginning in May, Grane Hospice Care partnered with Eternal Remembrance to begin to offer a digital memorial to the families of those they have cared for.
The interactive Eternal Remembrance memorial allows families and friends to digitally place videos, photos and written stories and memories in locations that are meaningful to them.
Anyone can add to the memory collection and family and friends can then use the online app to visit those locations and view the shared stories.
The memories can also be placed on a privacy-protected, customizable webpage where it can be viewed by anyone invited to do so.
"We saw Eternal Remembrance as an additional way Grane Hospice can support the families of the patients we care for and allow them to remember their loved one," said Shelly Scavone, director of regulatory compliance and quality management at Grane Hospice Care.
"We know how important it is for people to get together, share memories and honor their loved ones. Whether families and friends are separated by distance or separated during this unprecedented time of social distancing, we are committed to give them the support they deserve."
Grane Hospice Care provides hospice services and support to the Central Pennsylvania region and across Pennsylvania. These services include nursing care, pain and symptom management, medical equipment and supplies, medication and emotional, financial and spiritual counseling.
Grane Hospice provides support and advocacy to help make decisions that are best for each unique individual.
"We are proud to be partnering with Grane, an organization that clearly has vision and cares for the emotional well-being of its community," said Tom McConnell, founder and CEO of Eternal Remembrance. "This digital memorial was created for people who want to have stories forever and want to do more than send flowers or visit a gravesite. We're hopeful that people find comfort in creating memorials together and sharing stories with each other."
Eternal Remembrance was inspired by the experience of a woman who lost her father in a commercial trucking accident. On the day of his funeral, a convoy of almost 60 trucks paraded past the cemetery to honor this fellow trucker, family man, Marine veteran and community volunteer.
