EBENSBURG — Cent-ral Cambria High School juniors Megan Stevens and Tristan Moss hosted Jakob Zernick and Seedz 4 Needz at two basketball games Jan. 29 and 30.

Seedz 4 Needz is a nonprofit that provides monetary and gift donations to children battling illness created by Jakob Zernick, an eighth-grade Central Cambria student who was diagnosed in 2014 with Crohn’s disease.

He founded Seedz 4 Needz as a way to give back to Children’s Hospital for the outstanding care he received and continues to receive.

The nights included basket raffles with more than 40 baskets and prizes, duck toss, Cambria and Jackson elementary student choruses singing the National Anthem, robot demonstrations, apparel sales and 50/50.

Jakob served as honorary coach for the boys game and presented the Cambria Heights girls coach with a gift for her child battling illness.

In the weeks leading to each game Stevens and Moss displayed the baskets during lunch periods. Students and staff throughout the school district participated in purchasing apparel and chances.

For their senior project, the juniors raised a record-breaking amount of $8,700 for Jakob and Seedz 4 Needz thanks to the generosity, support and spirit of the community.

Jakob’s goal is to inspire others through his actions.

Seedz 4 Needz T-shirts can be seen in all 50 states and more than 30 count-ries.
