Blair Dance Company wins regional competition

LANCASTER – The Blair Dance Company from the Blair Dance Academy, Altoona, traveled to its third regional competition of the season, the Nexstar National Talent Competition from April 12 to 14.

They earned the title of “regional champions” for the highest scoring routine at the competition.

The Blair Dance Company received 19 platinum trophies, 16 high gold trophies, five gold trophies, five overall high score first-place awards and 26 overall high score placement awards, as well as 33 divisional first-place trophies, four special awards, a choreography award, a performance award and the Backstage Award. There were more than 20 schools in attendance with 500 routines. The results are as follows:

n The teen hip-hop group “Senoritas” won a platinum Trophy, first-place divisional trophy, first-place overall high score for Teen Large Groups, 12 and older Performance Award, and the “regional champions” for 2013.

n The company’s teen acro dance “Another Cha Cha” won a platinum trophy, first-place divisional trophy, first-place overall high score for teen large groups/lines.

n “Cali Girls,” the company’s teen tap group, won a platinum trophy, first-place divisional trophy and second-place overall high score in the teen/senior small groups and was awarded the “Future Rockettes” special award.

n The company’s junior open group “Chocolate” won a platinum trophy, first-place divisional trophy and second-place overall high score in the junior small group category.

n “Rock,” the company’s teen production group, won a platinum trophy, first-place divisional trophy and second-place overall in the teen large group/line category.

n “Take Off With Us,” the company’s senior musical theater group, won a platinum trophy, first-place divisional trophy and second-place overall high score teen/senior small groups.

n “Bobblehead,” the company’s senior jazz large group, won a platinum trophy, first-place divisional trophy and third-place overall high score for senior large groups. n The senior contemporary dance “Falling Slowly” won a platinum trophy, first-place divisional trophy fourth-place overall high score in the senior large group category.

n The senior modern dance “Wrath Of The Titans” won a platinum trophy, first-place divisional trophy and fifth-place overall high score in the senior large group category.

n The junior jazz dance “Some Nights” won a high gold trophy and fifth-place overall high score in the junior large groups.

n “Lullabye (Goodnight),” the company’s teen contemporary group, won a high gold trophy, first-place divisional trophy and eighth-place overall high score in junior large groups.

n “I Wanna Hold Your Hand,” the company’s junior contemporary group, won a high gold trophy, first-place divisional trophy and ninth-place overall high score in junior large groups and was awarded the 11 and Under Choreography Award.

n The junior hip-hop group “Can’t Touch This” won a high gold trophy and a first-place divisional trophy.

n Sydney Berish, Dylann Condrin and Rebecca Paule performed the open trio “Hollyrock” and won a platinum trophy, first-place divisional trophy and first-place overall high score for junior duet/trios. n “I Won’t Dance,” a tap trio performed by Heidi Butterbaugh, Madison Frank and Madalyn Krajacic, won a platinum trophy, first-place divisional trophy and a first-place overall high score for teen duet/trios.

n “Precious Things,” an open duet performed by Alivia Coposky and Ally Sheedy, won a platinum trophy, first-place divisional trophy and a first-place overall high score for senior duet/trios.

n “Three Breaths Forward,” a contemporary duet performed by Lindsay Parnell and Ally Sheedy, won a platinum trophy, first-place division trophy and second-place overall high score for senior duet/trios.

n Ally Boslet, Myranda Oswalt, and Lauryn Zelnosky performed the jazz trio “Vive Le Swing” and won a platinum trophy, a first-place divisional trophy and second-place overall high score for teen duet/trios.

n Caitlin Berkehimer and Hailey Sanders performed the open duet “Glam” and won a platinum trophy, first-place divisional trophy and third-place overall high score in the senior duet/

trios.

n “Party Girls,” an acro duet performed by Peyton Sanders and Marissa Villano, won a platinum trophy, the “Defying Gravity” special award and second-place overall high score for junior duet/trios.

n “Din Da Da,” a tap duet performed by Lindsay Parnell and Samantha Parnell, won a high gold trophy, first-place divisional trophy and third-place overall high score for senior duet/trios.

n “Not Ready To Make Nice,” a contemporary trio performed by Alex Clark, Alicia Hartford and Shaelyn Rickens, won a gold trophy, first-place divisional trophy fourth-place overall high score for senior duet/trios.

n “Fannypack,” a hip-hop duet performed by Alivia Coposky and Lindsay Parnell, won a gold trophy, first-place divisional trophy and fifth-place overall high score for senior duet/trios.

n “Winter Song,” a lyrical duet performed by Macy Jones and Madison Hearn, won a high gold trophy and seventh-place overall high score for teen duet/trios.

n Mackenzie Bracken and Alicia Hartford won a gold trophy and seventh-place overall high score for senior duet/trios for their jazz duet “When I Die.”

n “Baroque,” a modern trio performed by Jenna Cheslock, Bethany Hearn and Paige Reilly, won a gold trophy and a first-place divisional trophy.

n “The Kite,” a lyrical trio performed by Emily Baker and Amya Miller, won a gold trophy and a first-place divisional trophy.

n Emmalee Hallinan performed a contemporary solo “Bitter” and received a platinum trophy, first-place divisional trophy, second-place overall high score for senior solos.

n Principle soloist Lindsay Parnell performed her Modern solo “Time After Time” and won platinum trophy and fourth-place overall high score for senior solos. n Madalyn Krajacic performed her jazz solo “Hit The Road Jack” and won a platinum trophy, first-place divisional trophy and sixth-place overall high score for senior solos.

n Mackenzie Bracken won a high gold trophy, a first-place divisional trophy and seventh-place overall high score for senior solos for her character solo “Bodies.”

n Alivia Coposky performed an acro solo “Bulletproof” and won high gold trophy, a first-place divisional trophy and eighth-place overall high score for senior solos.

n Marissa Villano won a high gold trophy and eighth-place overall high score for junior solos for her acro solo “Big Noise.”

n Principle soloist Ally Sheedy performed an open solo “Indestructible” and received a high gold trophy, first-place divisional trophy and 10th-place overall high score for senior solos.

n Peyton Sanders won a high gold trophy, first-place trophy, and “Sassy Style” special award for her solo “Hot Mess.”

n Shaelyn Rickens performed her lyrical solo “I Am” and won a high gold trophy and a first-place divisional trophy.

n Samantha Parnell won a high gold trophy and a first-place divisional trophy for her tap solo “Sound Of Sunshine.”

n Caitlin Berkheimer performed an open solo “What’s A Girl Gotta Do” and won high gold trophy and a first-place divisional trophy.

n Hailey Sanders performed her open solo “Royal T” and won high gold trophy.

n Madelyn Ardrey was awarded a first-place plaque for the 12 and older photogenic competition. n Raina Plutko was awarded a first-place plaque 11 and younger photogenic competition. n Lindsay Parnell won a second-place plaque for 12 and older photogenic. n Katie McCloskey was awarded a third-place plaque for 12 and older photogenic competition.

n Alicia Hartford won a high gold trophy and a first-place divisional trophy for formal wear fashion modeling.

The Blair Dance Company is the not for profit competitive dance troupe from the Blair Dance Academy. The members are chosen yearly through an extensive audition and interview process. They are under the artistic direction of Rebecca Reese. Reese, Raina Salmen, Allison Tankersley, Jay Gamlin and Tokyo are also choreographers for this year’s group.
