Book talk set for June 10
William R. Huber, author of “Charlie Schwab: President of Carnegie Steel, U.S. Steel and Bethlehem Steel,” will present a book talk for the Cambria County Historical Society at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at the Ebensburg Borough Building.
Several Cambria County residents were recognized for their contributions to the biography about the industrial titan Charles Schwab written by the North Carolina author.
Huber’s biography offers a more personal insight into the Williamsburg-born Schwab, whose family moved to Loretto, the place he considered his hometown and where he spent his summers.
It’s Huber’s fourth biography with previous works on George Westinghouse, Robert and John Pitcairne and Adolph Sutro. Huber, who spent his childhood in Johnstown, said the local sources helped bring Schwab to life.
Frank Seymour of Loretto and Joan Kowalski of Gallitzin assisted Huber with his research for his book, which was published in October 2024.
The talk is free and open to the public.
