The following events are scheduled as part of America250 celebrations.
Legacy weekend
Fort Roberdeau Legacy Weekend will take place at Fort Roberdeau, 383 Fort Roberdeau Road, Altoona, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14.
Saturday is Frontier Living Day, where visitors can explore what life was like for those who were not fighting in the revolution and how women contributed. Discover what handicrafts and clothes were popular during the American Revolution, and pick an instrument to play some tunes from the Revolutionary War. There will be a special screening of WPSU’s “The Whiskey Rebellion” documentary.
Sunday is Military Day that includes a Black Robe presentation. Visitors can discover what life was like on the frontier for the men who lived and served at Fort Roberdeau.

History Speaks
Kevin Stiver will present History Speaks: A BCHS Lecture Series — “What’s in a Name? Exploring the History Behind Blair County Locations” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at the Railroaders Memorial Museum. Admission is free; donations to the Blair County Historical Society accepted. Musical tribute
P&J Productions, Penn State Altoona, and the City of Altoona will present “Let Freedom Ring!” a musical tribute celebrating America’s 250th birthday. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 27, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at the Paul R. & Margery Wolf Kuhn Theatre, Misciagna Family Center for the Performing Arts, Penn State Altoona Campus.

Wing fest, fireworks
Railroaders Memorial Museum, Altoona, will present Main Line Mania, Wing Fest & Firework Show Friday, July 3. Gates open at 4 p.m. Live music from K4 Kountry, 7th Virtue and Josh Gallagher will run from 5 to 10 p.m. Fireworks will begin at dusk. Walk-in admission is $5 per person; parking is $10 per car.
Food truck festival
The Big Boy Train Food Truck Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, in downtown Tyrone. Enjoy great food, unique vendors, family fun and see the Big Boy locomotive up close. For more information, contact the Tyrone Chamber of Commerce, 814-684-0736.
‘Timeless Town’
The Huntingdon Area Performing Arts Booster Club is partnering with the Huntingdon County America 250 Committee to present an unforgettable musical, “Timeless Town,” written, set and performed in Huntingdon County, at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 9, Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11 at the Huntingdon Area High School.
