Book highlights Huntingdon County attractions

Four standout natural attractions in Huntingdon County are gaining statewide recognition in a newly released guide highlighting Pennsylvania’s most remarkable outdoor destinations.

Lincoln Caverns and Whisper Rocks, Balanced Rock at Trough Creek State Park, Ridenour and Hawn’s Overlooks at Raystown Lake, and Thousand Steps Viewpoint along the Standing Stone Trail are among the featured locations, showcasing the county’s diverse and memorable experiences.

The book, written by Pennsylvania-based author Tory Mather, highlights destinations across the state that offer unique opportunities for exploration, from scenic overlooks to hidden natural formations.

The Huntingdon County Visitors Bureau played a key role in connecting the author with the region. In September 2024, HCVB hosted Mather for a three-day visit, curating an itinerary that highlighted a range of outdoor experiences across the county. The visit introduced her to several notable locations, including the four sites that were ultimately selected for inclusion in the book.

Mather will sign books during a special appearance at Lincoln Caverns and Whisper Rocks on June 6, as part of the site’s annual Cave Day celebration.
