Local banks Mid-State, Central Counties, Central PA, Hollidaysburg Trust and Blair County First National, plus Altoona Federal, Reliance, Columbia, and Investment Savings & Loan Associations reported that Blair County Citizens had saved a total of $3.8 million in their Christmas Club Accounts.

The Blair County Commissioners honored the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazarath, Sister Thea Krause president of the board, for their 52 years of service to St. Leonard’s Home in Hollidaysburg. St. Leonard’s once housed girls from the private Highland Hall Girls School.

Altoona created an agency called the Altoona General Authority that was to give it possible entry to a program called the state’s City Revitalization & Improvement Zone (CRIZ) that concerned reducing tax revenues within a zone of up to 130 acres for economic development.
