The Keystone State Tattoo Expo will be Friday-Sunday, Aug. 1-3, at the Blair County Convention Center. There will be over 120 tattoo artists and vendors from around the country, as well as entertainment. Hours are noon to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, noon to 8 p.m. Sunday. A one-day pass is $20; three-day, $45. Children 14 and younger are admitted free of charge. Tickets are available at the door.

First Fridays in downtown Bedford will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 1 with the theme Aloha Beach. Stores are open until 7 p.m. There will be live music. New this year is “Unlock the Fun,” where participating businesses will give out keys to collect and try your luck at opening the treasure chest to win a prize.

Bats are very beneficial to humans, but sometimes they still get a bad reputation. Don’t miss the chance to learn more about their habits, and how to coexist with them during a program set for 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at the Buck Hill Amphitheater, Blue Knob State Park. There will be updates on the declining state bat population due to white nose syndrome. In addition, plans for building a bat roosting box will be available.

Dog Days of Summer will be held Saturday, Aug. 2, in the Public Squares, downtown Bedford. This event will feature vendors selling pet related items (merchandise, treats, decor and more) and pet related information booths and demonstrations. Food and beverages will be available for purchase during the event.

A double elimination cornhole tournament will take place with registration being from 11 to 11:45 a.m. and the tournament beginning at noon.. Saturday, Aug. 2

Central PA Recovery Walk & Rally will be held Saturday, Aug. 2, beginning at Legion Park in Hollidaysburg. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the park; walkers will step off at 11 a.m. There will be a rally at the Blair County Courthouse and a free lunch at Zion Lutheran Church. The first 100 people who sign up will receive a free T-shirt. There will be a limited number of shuttles to return walkers to Legion Park. The event is hosted by Rise For Recovery.

The Pennsylvania Summer Choral Society, a group founded in 2024 by performer and conductor Connor Hummel, will present “Gloria!: Songs of Love Through Times of Darkness” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at the Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center on the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown campus.

The group was first established in Martinsburg and has recently expanded to Johnstown. The 2025 ensemble is composed of over 120 singers, led by Hummel, and accompanied by a purpose-created orchestra.

The group will perform classical choral masterworks including “The Proclamation” by English composer/conductor Karl Jenkins and “We Can Mend the Sky” by Jake Runestad, as well as lesser known selections by modern choral strongholds like Ysaye Barnwell and Elaine Hagenberg.

The ensemble also has pop selections from the likes of Bill Withers’s “Lovely Day” and a medley from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s famous musicals “Carousel” and “The Sound of Music.” on the program.

Lisa Haas from the Blair County Conservation District will be teaching participants about some of the amazing turtles in our area during a program from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Buck Hill Amphitheater at Blue Knob State Park. Learn about the lives of turtles by looking at several mounted specimens and some live examples.

Disc golf is the game from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at Chappells Field at Blue Knob State Park. Disc golf enthusiast, Eric Keim, and park naturalist Jessie Kohan will be on hand to play a 9-hole round of disc golf and teach participants some eco facts along the way. Bedford County will hold National Night Out activities from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Saxton Volunteer Fire Department, Saxton. The event includes meet and greets with first responders, community resources, giveaways, vehicle and facility tours and more.

Fort Roberdeau will host Revolutionary War Days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, and Sunday, Aug. 20. See the Revolutionary War in action. American patriots stand guard over the Lead Mine Fort while British loyalists and Native American allies wait for an opportunity to attack. This dynamic, story based on true events begins Saturday morning and continues through Sunday afternoon, featuring reenactments each afternoon that bring to life the tension, strategy and courage of 18th century frontier warfare.

Music in the Burg: ASO Family Summer Celebration will be held at 6 p.m. at Canal Basic Park.

Sponsored by the Hollidaysburg Area Arts Council, the concert begins with the Altoona Youth Orchestra, led by directors Kelly Detwiler and Stephanie Everett. The youth will perform two pieces that showcase the area’s upcoming talent.
