Five Bishop McCort Catholic High School Seniors traveled to Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and Austria to study the Holocaust through the Blanche Beerman Fund of the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies. In return for this educational opportunity, the five students -- Emma Newcomer, Ashley Koontz, Lauren Crocco, Lauren Conrad and Charlize Amper -- have prepared a presentation and testimonial, which echoes the message "Always remember, never forget!"
The public is invited to attend a presentation by the students at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 5, when they will be observing Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, with Temple Beth Israel. The Holocaust Study Tour students will lead a presentation comprised of slides, pictures and video clips outlining their journey through this historical event. They will take the audience on an educational recap of the events leading up to World War II and the Holocaust and continue by outlining their experiences through their travels.
Their mission is to spread the word of what they saw and experienced.
Chaperones and mentors for this project are Mary Clare Piatak, Bishop McCort French teacher, and Durinda Reaman, retired Bishop McCort English teacher.
