The Bedford County Chamber Foundation's 2024 concert series continues with Neil Byrne at 3 p.m. April 28 at Clear Ridge Wedding and Event Center. The concert will feature concessions by Jackie's Groovy Cheese, Bella Terra Winery and Olde Bedford Brewing Company. The local brewery has created special beers for the artists over the years, including their popular Rebellion Irish Red Ale and Keep Your Powder Dry Irish Stout.
A concert by former Glee star Damian McGinty will be held at 7:30 p.m. June 10 at the Woodhaven B&B and Event Venue. The concert will feature food and wine concessions along with new Woodhaven offerings.
The cultural series benefits the 501(c)(3) Bedford County Chamber (Education) Foundation which provides career exploration and leadership development programs for students in grades Pre-K through 12 as well as adults.
Byrne has visited Bedford County more than any other of the Celtic Thunder artists, first with the group Byrne and Kelly and then on his first U.S. solo tour last summer. Byrne started his Celtic Thunder career as the band's lead guitarist with featured vocal appearances, but soon became a lead performer and a fan favorite for his friendly demeanor and comedic interludes.
Byrne's solo performances take his talents to a new level. He uses a repeating machine to record layers of background tracks in real time, creating a sound and an experience that is larger than one artist. His new tour, "The Eyes of Eire" (or Through the Eyes of Ireland), shares more stories and heritage of his homeland.
McGinty's 2024 tour, "A Million Little Ways," is named after his new single about impending fatherhood. McGinty hails from Derry in Northern Ireland and earned an international following as part of the original cast of Celtic Thunder when he was just 14 years old.
Two seasons on the hit TV show Glee expanded his American fan base, but he's also found success as a solo singer-songwriter. His original music can be found at the crossroads of multiple genres from contemporary and pop to folk, with country influences and Irish roots.
Tickets are available through the Chamber office and online; the cost for each event is $50 for general admission, or $100 for VIP meet-and-greet concert passes, including photos and chats with the artists as well as early-entry and first-choice seating.
