Altoona residents Mike and Karen Sadar-Watt will present a drama based on the lives of Louis and Louisa Gregory, an interracial Baha'i couple who were married in New York City in 1912. The presentation will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, in the Black Box Theatre at Juniata College, Huntingdon.
The program in honor of Black History Month is sponsored by the Juniata College Campus Ministry in conjunction with the Baha'i faith.
Born in 1874, Louis Gregory was one of the first Blacks in the United States to become a lawyer. Eventually, his dedication to the Baha'i faith led him to become a lecturer on the oneness of mankind and the importance of eliminating all forms of prejudice. His life is the subject of a biography, "To Move the World" by Gail Morrison.
Karen Sadar-Watt wrote the drama based on Morrison's book.
