Attorney Richard A. Consiglio was named Blair County public defender by the Blair County Commissioners with attorneys Thomas Reese, Michael Dorezas and Donald Speice as assistants and also an investigator.

Altoona Hospital was offering what was called a "relaxation channel" for patients who had cable television in their rooms. It featured pastoral and nature scenes with soft music and various relaxation techniques. Psychologist Denis Navarro said it gave patients a sense of control.

The Salvation Army Citadel Corps, Matt Morrison captain, canceled plans for a fundraiser to auction off a Chihuahua dog when they found it was illegal under state law.
