Cresson Lake Playhouse offers an experience for children and teens called "Center Stage 2024: CLP Youth Theater Winter Workshop" designed to help young performers learn techniques and increase confidence in the performing arts.
This workshop will be hosted by the "Finding Nemo Jr." creative team and will cover theatrical acting skills, script analysis, music, movement, artistic themes and auditioning skills for third through 12th graders.
Each workshop will be done for two separate age groups: grades third to fifth from 10 a.m.-noon and grades sixth to 12th from 1-3 p.m. on four consecutive Saturdays, Jan. 20, 27, Feb. 3 and 10.
The workshop will be held at Cresson Lake Playhouse's rehearsal hall at 427 S. Center St., bottom of Sun Seekers building. The cost is $75 per student for all 4 sessions if the reservation is made on or before January 12; $85 per student if the reservation is made after January 12.
While this workshop is focused on the specific needs of the "Finding Nemo Jr." audition, the skills learned are applicable for any stage audition. While attending the workshop will not guarantee a role for your child in the upcoming production, performers will leave feeling empowered and ready for any audition that comes their way, organizers said. Participation is not required to audition and space is limited.
"Finding Nemo Jr." will be presented to schools May 7-10 at the barn theater and to the public May 9-12 in the same location. Participation in this workshop will also decrease the participation fee for "Finding Nemo Jr." from $50 to $25.
