50 years ago: Nov. 30, 1973

A CROP Walk, Christian Rural Overseas Program, The Revs. Gerald Moorhead and John Cassel chairmen, was held over 10 miles in Martinsburg with 725 walkers and raised $9,135 for food for the hungry overseas.

25 years ago: Nov. 30, 1998

World War II veteran Victor Raia of Altoona was helping to raise an estimated $100 million to build a National WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C. Groundbreaking was estimated for the year 2000 and completion for the year 2002.

10 years ago: Nov. 30, 2013

The Meadows Original Frozen Custard Stand in Duncansville, built in 1950, was demolished so that a new 2,500-square-foot facility could be built with a drive-thru in the back. The old building lost 18 feet of parking space to PennDOT when Rt. 220 was rebuilt about 10 years prior.
