Things Unseen Theatre to present ‘Egad, the Woman in White’

Things Unseen Theatre presents "Egad, the Woman in White," a fun Halloween-season show, at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 2-4 and 2 p.m. Nov. 5 at Sweitzer Theatre in The Church in the Middle of the Block Cultural Center, 217 Fifth Avenue.
Directed by David Rutter, "Egad, the Woman in White" is a melodrama, a style of theater that encourages audience participation like booing and hissing at villains, or loudly cheering for or sympathizing with protagonists. Based on the classic novel "The Woman In White" by Wilkie Collins, playwright Tim Kelly has turned the story into a laugh-oriented farce emphasizing the stereotyped characters of traditional melodramas -- the mean villain, the sensitive hero, the persecuted heroine and the faithful friend.
The cast includes Aaron James, Rebecca Twine, Nadine Miller, Elizabeth Happeny, Kassie Smith, Bernhard Warg, Lydia Berry, Maddie Letsche, Aaron Detwiler and Valerie Stratton.
Sir Percival Glyde (James), is a 19th century Englishman who fancies himself a gentleman, but in actuality, is nothing more than an evil-
doer who can't pay his bills and has quite the gambling problem. We follow Sir Percival as he plots to make his fortune and pay his debts by marrying sweet and dutiful Laura (Maddie Letsche), a well-to-do heiress whose father promised Percival his daughter's hand in marriage as he lay on his deathbed. But Sir Percy is haunted by the mysterious and ghostly Woman in White. Thrown in are a few mad characters who are all after Sir Percival's impending riches.
Tickets cost $15 for general admission and $12 for seniors and students, and will be available online (link available on Facebook) and at the door.
