A local group called Save Our School (SOS) said it would go to court after State Secretary of Transportation Jacob G. Kassab approved new Route 22 and 220 highway corridors through Hollidaysburg. SOS was concerned about the highways' effect on Hollidaysburg schools.
25 years ago: July 6, 1998
Local monument dealers like M.R. Cupples, W.H. Kelly and Son and Schmid Monument said many people had 19 carved into their headstones in advance for the date of death with the year 2000 coming soon. The stone would either have to be replaced or repaired for as much as $1,000.

Jason Lamb, general manager of the Everett Railroad shortline in Duncansville, was train coordinator for a movie called "The Lone Ranger" starring Johnny Depp. He had also worked on movies and educational TV in Hollywood.
