Youthpower Inc., sponsored by Manpower Inc., was explained to the Altoona Rotary Club by director Steve Wicks. He said that it found an average of 500 jobs a summer for local youths.
25 years ago: July 25, 1998
American Track Systems International Inc., located at the Juniata Shops of Conrail and builder of railroad switches and track parts, declared bankruptcy. It owed Conrail $170,000 in rent and Blair Judge Norman Callan gave Conrail permission to evict them.

The Blair County Convention Center and Sports Facilities Authority was to take over managing the convention center from Explore Altoona on Aug. 1. Explore Altoona was formerly the Allegheny Mountains Convention and Visitors Bureau.
