Altoona Symphony Orchestra hosts free concert
Event to highlight melodies from upcoming season

The Altoona Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Nick Palmer, presents the "ASO Family Summer Celebration," a free outdoor concert at 6 p.m. Aug. 19 at Canal Basin Park in Hollidaysburg.
Sponsored by the Hollidaysburg Area Arts Council, festivities begin with the Altoona Youth Orchestra, led by directors Kelly Detwiler and Stephanie Everett. The evening highlights the upcoming season, with Shostakovich's "Festive Overture," from the opening night performance on Sept. 30, music from "My Fair Lady," as part of the May 11 collaboration with Altoona Community Theatre, as well as favorites such as melodies from "Spiderman," the "Washington Post March," an Armed Forces Salute and music from "Encanto."
Food and beverages will be available for purchase, courtesy of Hollidaysburg Church of the Brethren. In the event of inclement weather, the rain location for the concert will be the Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School Auditorium.
