50 years ago: June 20, 1973

Robert A. Halloran, executive director of the Altoona Enterprises, was elected president of the Penn Woods Council of the Boy Scouts of America and gave a report on a 10-year study. Attorney Bertram Leopold of Altoona was elected as vice-president.

25 years ago: June 20, 1998

Built in 1962 and shut down in 1972, GPU's Saxton Nuclear Experimental Reactor was given permission by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission to move its main components, like the reactor, to a disposal facility in South Carolina, making the land available for development.

10 years ago: June 20, 2013

The Blair/Clearfield Association for the Blind building, 300 Fifth Ave., in Altoona since 1926, was given a complete interior rebuild at no cost by the Sheetz Corp., Chad Olivieri Sheetz construction manager.
