Roy Edmundson of Williamsburg will be an honored guest at the 5K Walk to Remember Our Fallen to be held from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 27, at the Pennsylvania Military Museum, 51 Boal Ave., Boalsburg.
Edmundson's son, SPC Chad A. Edmundson, was a member of the Altoona National Guard and was killed in action May 27, 2009, while serving in Iraq.
"I try to do everything I can to honor his name," Edmundson said about attending the event.
The event is being organized by Trish Shallenberger, CEO of A Soldier's Hands, a partner of the Carry The Load Continuum of Care Program, which helps raise awareness and funds that help military, veterans, first responders and their families.
"We want to bring back the true meaning of Memorial Day," she said. "A time to remember those who have taken the fall while serving our country."
The cost to participate, which includes A Walk to Remember Our Fallen T-shirt, is $25 for adults, $15 for veterans and children ages 13-17 and free for children 12 and younger.

While Edmundson is walking for his son, he suggests those who don't have anyone to walk for, "walk through a graveyard and look for a veteran, then walk for that person."
Capt. Mike Majewski, commanding officer of Penn State University's Naval ROTC and professor of naval science, will speak.
The event will conclude with a 21-gun salute provided by the Bellefonte VFW and taps.
Several veterans' organizations will be on hand to provide information and support to veterans and their families, including the DuBois Veteran Center, Van Zandt VA Medical Center, the state Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, PA Survivor Outreach Services and the Therapeutic Horse Riding Program.
The event is sponsored by A Soldier's Hands and the Pennsylvania Military Museum. Proceeds will go to A Soldier's Hands, a nonprofit organization that prepares and distributes messages of gratitude and care packages to thousands of deployed service members around the world.
