The Altoona Mirror was suing Altoona City Council for violations of the Sunshine Law in Blair County Court concerning the firing of City Manager Ray Nearhood.

Altoona Mayor Bill Schirf asked local residents to observe a moment of silence at 1 p.m. Sunday in remembrance of the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The U.S. Senate also passed such a resolution.
