Clothing giveway planned

Grace’s Closet at Grace Lutheran Church, 1114 N. Cambria St., Bellwood, will host a clothing giveaway from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 13. Spring clothing will be available, as will fall and winter clothing. Those attending are asked to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines. Food pantry open on Fridays

Twenty-eighth Street Church of the Brethren Food Ministry, 2800 Union Ave., Altoona, will be open by appointment only every Friday. Call by Wednesday for a Friday appointment. For more information or to make an appointment, call the pantry at 814-207-8293.

Drive-in church services offered

The joint parishes of Mardorf and Fairview United Methodist churches in Altoona will host drive-in services at 10:30 a.m. Sundays in the parking lot at Mardorf United Methodist Church, 3429 Juniata Gap Road, Altoona. The service is also available within 1 mile of the church on 87.7FM or it can be watched live on Facebook at www.facebook.com/MardorfUMC. The services are available on the Facebook page and on Instagram TV, @mardorfchurch.

The churches hope to resume in-person services for Easter.

Fish fry dinners available

St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish, Altoona, will hold Lenten Fish Fry Dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Fridays during Lent through March 26, at Father Kelley Hall on 25th Avenue and Fifth Street. The menu includes choice of baked or fried fish, choice of two sides and dessert. Cost is $10 per dinner. Curbside order and delivery service will be from the side door on Fifth Street. Orders will also be accepted by calling 814-330-9582 or 814-369-0798 with the pickup site approached through the main parking lot of the church to the side lot of Father Kelley Hall.

Eggstravaganza set for March 27

Champion Life Church will host the third annual Eggstravaganza at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 27. The free family event includes an Easter egg pit, carnival games, a puppet show and visits from the Easter Bunny and some of his friends. Food and drink vendors will be on site. Champion Life Church is at 1314 12th St., Altoona, across from City Hall.

Take-out dinners, ham loaf sale planned

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church will offer take-out dinners from

1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays — March 20, March 27 and April 10. The dinners will be available for pickup at the parish hall, 335 Locust St., downtown Johnstown. Cost is $9 per meal. The menus for March 20 is ham loaf, scalloped potatoes, corn and dessert; March 27, swiss steak, whipped potatoes, green beans and dessert; April 10, chicken and biscuits, mashed potatoes and gravy, strawberry-spinach salad and dessert.

Ham loaves also are or sale frozen with glazing sauce and baking instructions included. A 1-pound loaf is $7 and a 2-pound loaf is $14. Orders much be placed by March 12.
