Scott and Cynthia Hammaker of Altoona celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a surprise party with friends and family on June 7 at the Cesare Battisti Club given by their daughter and family and Aunt Marian Dietz..

They were married June 5, 1976, at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, Sinking Valley. Mrs. Hammaker is the former Cynthia Bougher.

The couple have a daughter, Stephanie (George) Rodgers and a son, Eric Scott Wesley Hammaker, who is deceased.

They also have three grandchildren: Emily Rodgers, Erika Rodgers and Ethan Rodgers and a stepgranddaughter, Danielle Roberts.

Mrs. Hammaker retired from Altoona Regional Health System.

Mr. Hammaker retired from Norfolk Southern, Altoona.

The couple enjoy camping and being with family and friends.

Both are 1974 graduates of Altoona Area High School.
