Mr. and Mrs. Crist Karakantas of Altoona celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with a family gathering at Lake Harmony.
They were married on Aug. 23, 1953, at The Little Church Around The Corner in New York City.
The couple met while attending Drexel University. Mrs. Karakantas is the former Eleanor Muller of Brooklyn, N.Y.
The couple have two children, Richard Karakantas (Susan) of Lansdale, and Cynthia Karakantas Costanzo (Anthony) of Media. They also have six granddaughters: Olivia, Alexis, Theodora, Evanthia, Avery and Kalliopi.
Mr. Karakantas retired as an industrial engineer from GTE/Sylvania, and Mrs. Karakantas retired as a teacher from the Altoona Area School District.
