Sons of American Revolution to meet

The quarterly meeting of the Frontier Patriots Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will be held at noon, Saturday, March 14, at Hoss’s Restaurant, Business Route 220, Bedford.

All current members are encouraged to attend, as well as any male, 18 years of age or older, who desires to obtain membership. To become a member, proof is required of lineal descent from a patriot who served the Revolutionary War effort or who gave aid and support to American colonists during the Revolution. 

Nittany Valley writers offering event

The Nittany Valley Writers’ Network will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, in the Schlow Library Community Room, 211 S. Allen St., State College. Doors open at 6 p.m. The event is free, open to the public and includes a book signing.

Vicka Kharitonova Pevzner, author of “Beyond the Birch Trees: Short Tales of Growing Up Soviet,” will discuss writing her book, finding a publisher and how she promoted it. The book chronicles her life as a strong-willed girl in a secular Jewish family, taking readers from Moscow to distant Siberia, to the rugged Tien Shan mountain ranges and Crimean towns.
