Nearly summer

I’ve been working different jobs and gaining a lot of experience. I’ve finished several pathways and must say the journey has been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to meet different people and experience so many new things. I think the biggest adventure has been learning about autism within my family — the struggle of the unknown and not understanding what needs were lacking. Thankfully, little by little, we’ve come to better understand our family and their differences. I’d say one of the biggest lessons has been learning how sensitivity to environmental processing can make the world better for all of us.

For me, I’ve had to learn to slow down. It’s still hard not to want to speed things up, but going a little slower helps make schedules and changes easier for people to process. I still want to get things done quickly and have had to apologize more than once (sometimes several times a day). But it’s worth slowing down and breaking tasks into smaller pieces. When you think about it, this works for everyone. Who wants to take on a huge task when breaking it down into smaller steps makes it so much easier?

I know this is an art blog, but I wanted to mention this because it’s a big part of why I haven’t posted as frequently as I would have liked. This feels like an important update to share.

Art-wise, I hope everyone has been creating. I’ve been making small things on the side, and I hope everyone is taking time to create — especially when they need an outlet to meditate, reflect, or de-stress.

If you would like to share some art, please reach out. Have a wonderful day!
