The art of the season and songs
Handmade vintage wool spun ornament
Contemplating the winter season, I find solace in the intertwining realms of music and art, which illuminate the darkness brought by daylight savings. Diverse cultures and religions infuse this season with radiant traditions; Finland’s pageantry sees towns aglow with candles and harmonious songs, while Mexico vividly represents the nativity. Presently, Hanukkah’s candlelight graces windows, and homes adorned with colorful lights become canvases for self-expression. As we unite in the early darkness leading to the winter solstice on December 21st, my musical refuge lies in the tranquil folk sounds of Pentangle. What melodies bring you calm, and which traditions offer comfort? Personally, I’ve turned to coloring pages and acrylic markers, finding a sense of control and a burst of color to elevate my dopamine levels. Embracing these creative outlets, we navigate the depths of winter with grace and reflection.
In the midst of these challenging global times, I extend a silent prayer for peace worldwide. As a personal ritual, I contemplate channeling this sentiment through art, creating a visual reminder to guide my meditation towards the pursuit of tranquility.
