Anna Sawyer, 90, formerly of Thompsontown, La Jose RD, died Tuesday at Ridgeview Elder Care and Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville.
She was born in Urey, daughter of the late George and Annie (Hook) Bakaysa. She married James Sawyer, who died in 1963.
Surviving are a son, James and wife, Michelle; a son-in-law, Martin Rydbom; three grandchildren: Adam Rydbom and wife, Joni, Sarah Rydbom and Aaron Sawyer; three great-grandchildren: Ava, Sarah and Jace Weld; and a brother, Frank Bakaysa. All are of Coalport. She is also survived by a sister, Susan Patrick of Mentor, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Marie Rydbom; and five brothers: Mike, George, Andy, John and Charlie Bakaysa.
Anna was a homemaker.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 23, 2015, at Lloyd-Dimmick Funeral Home Inc., Irvona, where a Panikhida service will be held at 7:30 p.m. by Father David Lewis. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, at St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, 163 Hemlock St., Irvona, Father David Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Watts Cemetery.
