Connie Jean (Schmerbeck) Fluke, 79, Roaring Spring, entered eternal rest on Friday after a brief illness.
She was the daughter of the late Dorothy (Appleman) Schmerbeck and George Schmerbeck. On Oct. 2, 1965, she married Gary W. Fluke in Woodbury. Together, they enjoyed 60 years of wonderful memories and built a loving family.
She is survived by her loving husband; and the following children: Brenda Fluke-Garber (Doug) of Martinsburg, Karen Cottle (John) of Woodbury, Tammy Fluke of Roaring Spring and Brian Fluke (Sarah Eller) of Fishers, Indiana. She was blessed to be called "Nanny," by the following grandchildren: Hayley Norris (JC), Alli Stolarski (Jake), Abby Garber (Chandler Lewis) and Gabe and Liam Fluke; and a great-granddaughter, Stella Norris. She was also known as "Grams," to the following stepgrandchildren: Justine Turcotte (Jeremy), Jessica Caraker (James) and Jaleisa Dick; and seven step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved brothers and sister: Alan Schmerbeck, Sandra Schmerbeck and Randy Schmerbeck (Nina), all of Roaring Spring. She was "Aunt Connie" to several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
Connie was a 1964 graduate of Northern Bedford County High School and graduated from Altoona School of Commerce in 1965. She was a devoted homemaker and Christian who attended First Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring. She worked on the family farm, supported her children's activities and provided childcare for her grandchildren.
She loved hosting family gatherings in her home, as well as crocheting, embroidery and quilting, watching Penn State and Steelers football, puzzle books and reading, especially her Bible.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at Homewood in Martinsburg, especially the Tenley Rehab Center.
Friends and family will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at First Church of the Brethren, 901 Bloomfield St., Roaring Spring, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday, July 23, at the church. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2026, at First Church of the Brethren, the Rev. David Crumrine officiating.
Burial will be held privately at Holsinger Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to John's Way, 137 Church Hill Lane, Martinsburg, PA 16662.
