Blue Knob State Park, Imler, will host an educational program about honeybees from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at Buck Hill Amphitheater. Join Randy Barnes to discuss the roles of the bees inside the hive and the environmental value they provide for us. You will get to observe a honeybee hive as they work to strengthen their colony. Samples of their hard work will be available. The event is free.

Greenwood Furnace State Park, Huntingdon, will present "Bat Night" from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 18. Join us to celebrate bats and other creatures of the night during this hands-on program. It will conclude with a count of our resident bat population. Bring a flashlight if you plan to stay for the count. Bat Box Building will begin at 6 p.m., followed by additional presentations: Live Animals with Centre Wildlife at 7 p.m., Bats and Caves with Lincoln Caverns at 8 p.m., and concluding with the Bat Count at 9:15 p.m. The programs are free.

The annual Picklesburgh Festival will be held from Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19, in downtown Pittsburgh. Picklesburgh goes beyond the dill pickle to feature handcrafted food and artisan drinks featuring pickled ingredients from local chefs and restaurants, as well as pickle-themed snacks and merchandise, contests and entertainment.

The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Bedford (SAMA) is thrilled to announce the much-anticipated return of its Biennial Exhibition for 2026. This exhibition, a celebration of contemporary art and worldwide talent, will open on Friday, July 24, and runs through Oct. 18. The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art is located at the historic Anderson House at 137 E. Pitt St., Bedford. The hours of operation are noon to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Feel the heat of the forge and hear the ring of hammers during Compass Inn Museum's Hammer-In, a lively celebration of blacksmithing. The Ligonier Valley Historical Society will host skilled smiths from the Pittsburgh Area Artists Blacksmith Association at The Compass Inn, Laughlintown. The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Altoona is excited to welcome young artists this summer for five days of hands-on creativity, imagination and artistic exploration led by teaching artist Emily Russell. Designed for children and teens who love to create, SAMA's summer camps encourage students to experiment with new materials, techniques, and ideas while having fun in an inspiring museum setting. The camp will run from Monday, July 27, through Friday, July 31, at The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in the Brett Building at 1210 11th Ave., Altoona. The first camp for children aged six to nine will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day and the second camp for students 10 to 14 will run from 1 to 4 p.m. daily. The cost is $125 per child.

The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Bedford's Summer Painting Workshops series continues with "Explore the Wonders of Watercolor," a three-session watercolor workshop led by Susan Bragg from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 31, in the historic Anderson House at 137 E.
