Altoona Area School Board approves 3% tax hike
The Altoona Area School Board voted 6-3 to approve a resolution advertising the district’s 2026-27 preliminary budget with a 3% tax increase Monday. The board was presented with two budget options — either a 2% or a 3% tax increase — after rejecting a preliminary budget that raised taxes to the state’s Act I Index of 5.1% during a committee of the whole meeting Monday, April 27.
