Catherine K. "Kathy" Garland, 96, of Tyrone, entered into eternal rest on Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, surrounded by her family at Graystone Manor.
Catherine was born on Aug. 11, 1929, in Prescot, England, to the late Mary (Preston) Box and William Box.
Kathy is survived by her loving daughters, Janice (Mark) Endress of Bellwood and Krista (Bob) Peles of Starford; her grandchildren: David (Heather) Endress, Sheri (Ricky) Noonan, Emily Peles, Noah Peles, Leeah Peles, Allison Peles, Christopher (Jennifer) Garland, Ryan (Tarrah) Garland and Megan Garland; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Duane "Jim" Garland, whom she married on Aug. 29, 1953, at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Prescott, England; her sons, Kenneth and Alan Garland; two brothers; and three sisters.
Kathy was Catholic by faith and a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Tyrone. Kathy enjoyed being with her grandchildren, going to yard sales, flea markets and their dogs.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025, from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 1105 Cameron Avenue, Tyrone.
A mass will be held for Catherine at St. Matthew's at 11 a.m. with Father Michael Pleva officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Catherine's name can be donated to St. Matthew's Catholic Church.
A big thank you to the staff at Graystone Manor Bellmeade for the excellent care that she received, especially the friendships that she made with the staff and residents. "The Queen" loved you all. Thanks also to Gentiva Hospice for your help and keeping her comfortable at the end and Father Pleva and Paula for their continued spiritual guidance.
