The Rev. Lenore Hosier was appointed on July 1 as the pastor to the Christ Community and Llyswen United Methodist churches. Born in Baltimore, Md., she spent most of her childhood in southcentral Pennsylvania, graduating from Littlestown Area High School in 1987.
She and her husband Robert have been married for 33 years, and are proud parents to two married children (a son in the Army and a daughter who works in the domestic violence field) and two grandsons. They also have three dogs and can often be found walking in their neighborhood or hiking in the local state parks.
Hosier is a lifelong learner with an associate's degree in early childhood education from Harrisburg Area Community College, a bachelor's in Bible and ministry from Lancaster Bible College, a Master of Divinity from Evangelical Theological Seminary in Myerstown and a doctorate in peacebuilding and interfaith dialogue from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School in Rochester, N.Y.
She is currently enrolled in a nonprofit business administration program through Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D.
Whether it be for fun, work or school, Hosier can often be found with her nose in a book.
Although most of her ministry has been in local churches in central Pennsylvania, Pastor Hosier has served for three years as a mission pastor in the Caribbean and two years as a prison chaplain with the state Department of Corrections. She has also traveled extensively to the Middle East and continues to be heavily involved in mission work here and abroad.
Her favorite verse is Micah 6:8 -- "He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." Hosier's ministry goal is to help people see their own sacred worth and that of others as they seek to be the hands and feet of God.
