What products or services does your company provide: We are a sales development company, providing nontraditional sales and business development training as well as sales manager, customer service, retail sales and service, people skills, organizational excellence and leadership training using our livestreaming platform as well as in-person. These are all based on Sandler Training proprietary methods. We provide sales specific candidate hiring tools as well as other tools for specific selection, coaching and developing the next generation of leaders.
Who are your customers? We work with any individual or company, as well as individuals in all industries, profit and nonprofit.
What is your business day like? We typically deliver training sessions of 90 minutes or more about two to three times per week. I spend time debriefing. I may be coaching one on one, prospecting for new clients, preparing for the next session or attending an on-line event with one of the organizations we are licensed through.
What is the best business advice you have received? Be your genuine and authentic self — tell the good the bad and the ugly. Know that you are not right for everyone and have the integrity to walk away if you can’t help or they are not willing or able to use your help. Understand your customer or prospect better than anyone else ever could before you even think about selling.
What is the most important thing you’ve learned on the job? Be aware of excuse making — especially by yourself.
What does the future hold? Helping companies and individuals transition to remote selling; it is never going back to the way it was. There will be more face-to-face options when the pandemic is over, but companies see the value in time and dollar savings by not traveling. In addition, customers like the time savings and control of not seeing salespeople in person in some cases.
What have you read lately that has influenced your business life? “Goal Setting Boot Camp” by Kevin Shulman. So many of us never dive into really being committed to setting and sticking with goals, and Kevin ties in the emotional connection that seems to be missing.
