Rally held with Jacob Blake’s family

CHARLOTTE — Members of Jacob Blake’s family attended a rally in Charlotte on Sunday, calling for an end to a “vicious cycle of hate” nearly a month after Blake, a Black man, was shot seven times by a white police officer in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Those comments came from Blake’s sister, Letetra Widman, as she spoke in front of a crowd of more than 150 people at a park in the city.

One woman found dead, 1 chained to bed

CLEVELAND — Deputies are looking for a man after one woman was found chained inside his home and the body of another woman was found inside a burning vehicle outside his Southeast Texas house, authorities said Sunday.

After responding to a 911 call Saturday evening, deputies with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office found a woman who had been chained to a bed inside a home near Cleveland, Texas.

Donkey sculpture on front lawn burned

BOWDOINHAM — A donkey sculpture on a front lawn in a Maine town was set on fire in what one lawmaker called an act of “political terrorism.”

The sculpture was property of former select board member Theresa Turgeon, who said she’s currently running for the town’s select board again.
