Officer shoots, wounds man
HALLANDALE BEACH — A man was shot and wounded by police over the weekend following a vehicle chase in South Florida, authorities said.
An officer attempted to make a traffic stop for a moving violation early Sunday morning in Hallandale Beach, police spokeswoman RaShana Dabney-Donovan told news outlets. The driver refused to stop and headed north toward Hollywood. An officer reported seeing a passenger holding a gun during the chase.
Police: Children find 4 overdose victims
DETROIT — Two girls — ages 8 and 6 — discovered four overdose victims at a Detroit house, including their mother who was among three who died.
First-responders used the overdose-reversing drug, Naloxone, to revive a 32-year-old man about 4 p.m. Sunday on the city’s east side, according to The Detroit News.
UN calls for truce around 2020 Olympics
United Nations — The U.N. General Assembly unanimously approved a resolution Monday urging all nations to observe a truce during the 2020 Summer Olympics in Japan, saying sports can play a role in promoting peace and tolerance and preventing and countering terrorism and violent extremism.
Diplomats burst into applause as the assembly president announced the adoption of the resolution by the 193-member world body.
