State College man shot by police
Less than two months after a shooting that left four dead, the normally quiet State College is facing another fatal incident.
According to a State College Police Department press release, officers attempted to serve a mental health warrant at Marvin Gardens Apartments, located on Old Boalsburg Road, about 1:45 p.m. Wednesday.
During the attempted service, officers were involved in a shooting that resulted in the death of a 29-year-old black male, who was the subject of the warrant, according to the release. No other parties were injured in the incident.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
Pennsylvania State Police, the Centre County Disrict Attorney’s Office and the Centre County Coroner’s Office were called to the scene to investigate.
According to the release, the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave.
