UN condemns ‘heinous’ terrorist attack

UNITED NATIONS — The U.N. Security Council is condemning “in the strongest possible terms” the bombing in Iran that killed 27 people, calling it a “heinous and cowardly terrorist attack.”

All 15 members, including the United States, which is a strong critic of Iran’s leaders, “expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and to the government of Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Government to build migrant shelter

PANAMA CITY, Panama — Panama’s government said it will build a migrant shelter on its southern border with Colombia, after the latest wave of migrants crossed into the country.

Some 716 migrants, mostly Cubans, entered Panama over the weekend through the jungle province of Darien.

The director of Panama’s immigration agency said the latest group also included migrants from Haiti and Africa. Javier Carrillo said the migrants wanted to travel to the United States.

Authorities said Thursday the new $9 million shelter will be able to handle about 400 migrants.

Spyware company re-acquired by founders

JERUSALEM, Israel — An Israeli software firm known for its phone-surveillance technology said it has been re-acquired by its founders.

The NSO group announced Thursday that U.S.-based private equity firm Francisco Partners sold the company to its management.

The company did not reveal terms of the deal, but Israeli media said the transaction valued NSO at $1 billion. NSO was sold in 2014 to Francisco Partners for $130 million.
